"We start from emergency to create a culture of life" 
Dallo Sport alla Formazione Professionale: la battaglia per lo Sport sicuro è il primo passo verso la costruzione della Cultura della Salute.

How does this focus?
R. When President Luciano Di Nicola called me to work with the POL, we wondered how to reorganize a business that until then was limited to a sort of management of communal spaces and the mere recognition of the achievements of athletes and its affiliates.
The decision was to rethink the POL as a kind of laboratory of "sports culture", where the athlete would not be valued solely on the basis of competitive results obtained, but also - and especially - as a person. Hence the need to protect health in the first place. And emergency management is the first step toward protecting the health of the athlete.
D. The POL d Albano Laziale organizes training courses for some time free of BLSD to use the defibrillator for its affiliated companies with the collaboration of the Fondazione Giorgio Castelli Onlus.
When was this report between the Foundation and the POL and on what occasion it is able to obtain the name of "POL cardioprotective?
R. The relationship with the Foundation was created thanks to the extraordinary social experience, linked to sports and athletics Pavona, a small football club in five of the municipality of Albano, which was founded in 2003 by a group of parents who on entirely voluntary, they decided to create an environment where young people and their families could actually experience the values, integration and friendship. From here to put safety as one of the cornerstone of the project pace was really quick. We met then, almost by chance, Dr. Castelli at a meeting of the Italian Football Federation was born and now the embryo of what would become in time a genuine friendship also on a personal level. Transfer this enthusiasm into the POL was the step that immediately follows. The full involvement of that extraordinary person who was Luciano Di Nicola, a friend and a great manager of human skills and professional, did the rest. Through my own efforts and Luciano who was brought to the attention of the Mayor Mattei in 2008, the need to protect places of nostra Città dove si pratica lo Sport. L’appoggio del Primo Cittadino è stato immediato e completo. Debbo confessare che sono rimasto stupito anche io, conoscendo i tempi della politica e la consueta distanza tra i buoni propositi e l’azione concreta, della efficienza e dell’immediatezza dell’azione di Mattei. In pochi mesi, coordinando Amministrazione Comunale, Fondazione Giorgio Castelli e Polisportiva Comunale Generale, sono stati effettuati cinque corsi di formazione, certificati oltre duecento operatori BLS-D e installati defibrillatori presso gli impianti sportivi comunali di Albano, Cecchina e Pavona.
Oggi possiamo dire, senza tema di smentita, che Albano è una Città, dal punto di vista sportivo, cardioprotetta. E in questo ambito è doveroso riconoscere i meriti dell’amico Luciano Di Nicola. Un Presidente come non credo che la Polisportiva Comunale abbia mai avuto. Estremamente competente da un punto di vista sportivo ( è infatti Consigliere Provinciale della FIPAV ), ha messo a completa disposizione le sue capacità gestionali e la sua onestà e preparazione. Ha saputo coinvolgere nella giusta misura l’Amministrazione, promuovendo iniziative concrete a costo zero per le società affiliate, facendo leva sul volontariato e su istituzioni, come la Fondazione Castelli che prestano la loro opera in modo assolutamente gratuito. Un modello di public management da prendere ad esempio. Tra l’altro mi vengono i brividi quando sento dire that in future administrative arrangements of our City, is rumored to be replaced as president by some character that someone wants to "reward" at the political level. Oggi, paradossalmente, l’unico filtro obbligatorio è la visita per l’ottenimento dell’idoneità sportiva agonistica. Occorre quindi utilizzare questa occasione per verificare eventuali patologie, presenti nel ragazzo, che presentino controindicazioni a situazioni di stress psicofisico. Nel calcio, lo sport più praticato in Italia ( solo nel Lazio abbiamo oltre 110.000 tesserati ) da fonti del Settore Giovanile e Scolastico della FIGC risulta che almeno la metà dei tesserati “salta”, con la complicità criminale delle Società, la visita medica obbligatoria. E le Federazioni, per non perdere adesioni, fanno finta di non vedere. E la lista dei decessi tra sportivi si allunga …
D. Grazie alla formazione sempre crescente di operatori sportivi, ci sono dati che forniscono un riscontro sull'utilità di tale iniziativa formativa?

D. In societies affiliated to the POL si è mai reso necessario l'utilizzo del defibrillatore?
R. Nel caso del calciatore Di Bartolomeo, l’atleta è stato salvato grazie all’uso del defibrillatore. Alla quinta scarica il cuore del ragazzo ha ripreso a battere. Se non ci fosse stata la presenza a bordo dell’ambulanza del 118 di un defibrillatore, oggi stavamo piangendo l’ennesima vittima dello sport. A tale proposito, mi duole dirlo, che una delle poche società che non ha mai partecipato ai corsi di formazione promossi dalla Polisportiva in collaborazione con la Fondazione Castelli, è stata proprio l’Albalonga Calcio. Occorre che le società, soprattutto quelle che raccolgono tanti atleti anche giovanissimi, si adoperino per tutelare meglio i propri iscritti. Non c’è sempre un ambulanza con defibrillatore a bordo dietro l’angolo.
D. Pensa che la promozione di tali corsi in ambito scolastico sia una strada utile da percorrere?
R. Non credo che sia utile. E’ assolutamente indispensabile. In tale direzione sta andando anche il Comune della Città di Albano. Non voglio rischiare lo spot elettorale, ma proprio in questi giorni il Sindaco Marco Mattei ha donato alla Scuola Elementare di Via Rossini il defibrillatore. I docenti del plesso erano stati addestrati nei corsi dello scorso Gennaio promossi dalla Polisportiva e realizzati dalla Fondazione Castelli. Inoltre l’Albafor, l’Istituto di formazione di proprietà del Comune di Albano, già nello scorso mese di Giugno ha posizionato presso gli Uffici di Direzione un defibrillatore che segue i ragazzi che fanno attività sportiva durante gli impegni agonistici. Docenti delle Sedi di Albano, Pomezia, Marino e Velletri hanno conseguito l’attestato di operatore BLS-D e stiamo studiando un progetto che vede il coinvolgimento in corsi di formazione degli allievi di tutte le Sedi presenti sul territorio. E’ il primo passo verso la realizzazione di una cultura, come dicevo prima, di attenzione all’altro che parte dalla gestione dell’emergenza e che arriva ad una gestione del proprio corpo in moda adeguato. Occorre attaccare alla locomotiva dell’emergenza i vagoni della safety, proper nutrition, dell'antidoping, respect your body and that of others.
